Suzuki Motor Corporation is set to launch the all-new Jimny Nomade on April 3, 2025, marking the introduction of the first five-door model in the iconic Jimny series, known for its robust four-wheel-drive capabilities.
The Jimny Nomade is designed as a compact cross-country 4x4 that embodies authentic rough-road driving abilities while accommodating the practical needs of users. By incorporating rear doors and extending the wheelbase, the new model not only retains the renowned off-road performance of its predecessors but also provides enhanced access and comfort for four adult passengers.
Stylistically, the vehicle features a distinctive five-slot front grille—an emblem of the Jimny brand—adorned with gun-metallic paint and a plated frame, reflecting a sense of upscale quality. The Jimny Nomade will be available in a variety of six colors, including striking new hues for the series such as Sizzling Red Metallic, which boasts a vibrant pearl red finish, and Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic, which conveys an impression of sophistication.
In terms of dimensions, the overall length and wheelbase of the new model have been increased, facilitating a more comfortable seating position for rear-seat passengers and improving ease of entry and exit. Additionally, the expanded luggage capacity enhances practicality for everyday use.
Suzuki initiated pre-order sales for the Jimny Nomade in the Japanese market on January 30, 2025. However, due to overwhelming demand, the company ceased accepting new orders just five days later. As a result of this extraordinary interest, customers now face a waiting period of four years.
In a statement on their Japanese consumer website, Suzuki expressed their gratitude to customers: "Thank you very much for considering our products. The Jimny Nomade has received an enthusiastic response from many customers, and the volume of orders has far exceeded our production capacity. Consequently, we will be suspending orders for the time being. We will provide updates regarding the resumption of orders based on future production circumstances."
According to a media release from Suzuki, approximately 50,000 orders for the Jimny Nomade were placed within the first week of availability in Japan, significantly surpassing the company's sales expectations for the new model set to debut in April 2025.
For international markets, the Suzuki Jimny Nomade, sold in Japan, is the five-door variant produced in India and is known as the Jimny XL in Australia, where it has been available since December 2023.
The Japanese version features several additional enhancements and different exterior color options compared to the Indian-spec, this five-door model will also be fitted with a dealer-installed 10-centimeter tall box that raises the boot area, creating a flat floor when the seats are folded down. This feature is similar to what is offered in the new Toyota LandCruiser Prado.
